AC Milan manager Filippo Inzaghi finally appears to have him out of patience with striker Fernando Torres after admitting that the Spaniard should start scoring as soon as possible.
The 30-year-old once again failed to score in the Italian Serie A, as he endured a frustrating night against local rivals Inter Milan. The match finished as a 1-1 draw, which means that Milan have just one win in the last five matches. This has increased pressure on manager Inzaghi, although his position appears to be safe for the moment. The former Milan striker was brought in as the replacement Clarence Seedorf with a view of returning to the Champions League.
Milan remain a long way away from finishing in the top three, as they have not been able to put in a consistent run of results. After scoring against Empoli, Torres was expected to go on a goal spree. This is largely because he is the important player within the team unlike at his previous club Chelsea. The ongoing goal drought stretched to 8 matches, which has threatened to result in Stephan El Shaarawy becoming the preferred striker. Inzaghi has said that Torres has been extremely good in terms of working off the ball, but he needs to score in order to help Milan win matches.
"I believe Torres will soon get back on the scoresheet and I hope so, as we need his goals.I tried to improve the level of quality in attack with players like [Keisuke] Honda, [Jeremy] Menez, [Stephan] El Shaarawy and [Giacomo] Bonaventura to provide better service for him.I am trying to put the best team out to get the best out of him. He does well in training, but not every game goes the same way.Torres gives his all and I always use the example of Hernan Crespo. Carlo Ancelotti stuck with him when he didn't score for two months,” said Inzaghi.
