The Ghana national team manager Kwasi Appiah has said that he said it did not start the match against Flames of Malawi in the best manner, and it explains the poor performance in the 2-0 win.
Ghana were playing against Flames of Malawi on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium. Ghana were expected to steamroll their opponents due to the significant quality within the team. However, they struggled throughout the match and could only manage a 2-0 win over their opponents. The Ghana manager Kwasi Appiah has said it is largely due to the poor start made by his team in the first half.
Christian Atsu and Anthony Annan scored two goals in the match that secure the victory for Ghana in this first leg. However, the advantage could have been much more if Ghana have played well in the first half according to Kwasi Appiah. Due to this slender advantage, Kwasi Appiah reckons that it will be very tough for Ghana in the second leg. He has said that he could clearly see that his team were not tactically disciplined in the first half, which prompted some changes after the interval. This improved the team according to Kwasi Appiah.
"I think my players were a bit tactically undisciplined in the first half. We corrected that in the second half. My players are professionals and they did the job because they know the importance of every game. There will be not be much difference from how we played [in Accra]. We believe we will correct all our errors and play better. Malawi is not an ordinary team that you can just walk over them," said the Ghana manager Kwasi Appiah after the match. Following this victory, Ghana were defeated 2-0 in the friendly match against Liberia before they take on Flames of Malawi in the second leg.
